About the play:
The play Little Treasure, based on the text by renowned Irish playwright Elaine Murphy, tells an emotional, honest and layered story about three generations of women – a grandmother, mother and daughter – who face the challenges of everyday life without the presence of a male figure. Through humorous yet touching moments, the play reveals their connection, strength, weaknesses and their ability to adapt to life’s changes.
The grandmother, the only one with a stable partner, tries to understand and support her daughter and granddaughter as they struggle with emotional turbulence, professional pressure and personal dilemmas. Each of them carries her own burden – losses, insecurities and hopes – while trying to preserve what matters most: their love and family bond.
Through their intertwined stories, Elaine Murphy masterfully portrays the reality of the modern woman, torn between social expectations and her own needs. With warmth and humor, the text explores how different generations of women deal with changing relationships, family responsibilities and the roles they assume, often unconsciously shaped by the legacy of previous generations.
This emotional yet entertaining play will move audiences with its universality and sincerity, offering viewers the chance to recognize themselves in the struggles and victories of its heroines.
Little Treasure is not just a theatre piece – it is a warm, life-affirming story about love, loss and the strength of family ties that will surely leave a lasting impression on the audience.
