Šibenik Dance Festival in Vodice
From July 13 to 18, Šibenik will once again host top artists, choreographers, and dance professionals from around the world. This year, the program is expanding to Vodice, while the SDF Forum – a long-standing platform for professional panels – is being elevated to a new level, positioning the festival as a central hub for knowledge exchange and international collaboration among dance professionals.
This year’s festival theme, “When words lose their power, art speaks louder!”, strongly reflects the spirit of our time and the need for new forms of understanding and connection. The festival’s unique identity is shaped by its impressive historical and ambient locations, creating a captivating and unforgettable stage experience. A novelty of this year’s 15th anniversary edition is that, for the first time, the festival expands beyond the city of Šibenik, with Vodice becoming a new location of this international event.
SWING
Performance description:
Two bizarre characters confront each other within a wrestling arena. Swept up in a whirlwind of competitiveness, they take on the roles of two Swiss wrestlers. Despite their efforts, they fail to follow the rules, which leads to an acrobatic duel that is both comic and slightly grotesque. The performance combines physical theatre, acrobatics, and humor, creating a dynamic and universally understandable stage experience.
Production:
Fluctus is a Swiss physical theatre group whose goal is to create contemporary theatrical forms that remain accessible to audiences. Kevin Blaser and Faustino Blanchut, artistic directors and performers, met during their studies at the Accademia Dimitri. From their artistic and personal encounter emerged a collaboration that resulted in the performances Swing (2019) and I'm not a hero (2023).
