Opening of the archaeological exhibition - "On Liburnian Soil"
The Vodice Center for Art and Culture will ceremoniously open the archaeological exhibition ON LIBURNIAN SOIL – HILLFORTS IN THE HINTERLAND OF VODICE on Thursday, March 27, at 7 PM in the atrium of the Vodice Cultural Center. The exhibition is authored by two archaeologists, Marko Menđušić and Emil Podrug, a museum advisor at the Šibenik City Museum.
The exhibition ON LIBURNIAN SOIL – HILLFORTS IN THE HINTERLAND OF VODICE covers research on as many as 19 hillforts in our region. In archaeology, a hillfort refers to a type of prehistoric site located in a prominent, usually elevated position, emerging during turbulent and uncertain times of conflict and migration. The exhibition follows the development of material culture in the hillforts of the Liburnian people from the late Bronze Age to the end of the Iron Age.
