Meritas is a female pop-rock band founded in 1996 in Zagreb. Their name was created by combining their personal names, and they began their musical journey after returning from Munich. Since the beginning of their career, they have stood out with their recognizable sound, emotional lyrics and harmonious vocals, which is why they have become one of the most broadcast domestic artists. Their first album Skači, pleši, viči! from 1997 brought an energetic pop-rock sound. This was followed by the album Igra (2000), with which they further strengthened their status on the Croatian music scene. Their third studio album Na prvi pogled (2005) includes the hit "Odjednom ti", a song that has become a classic of domestic pop music. In 2007, they released Meritas Unplugged, an acoustic album that shows their more intimate side, and in 2008, they released the concert EP Live in the Factory. On the occasion of their twentieth anniversary, they released the album Gle! (2014), an introspective and emotional achievement that confirms their artistic maturity. Among the more recent songs, “Pričaj mi” (2016) and “Ova ljubav” (2017) stand out, both of which were noted on the radio charts and nominated for music awards. Throughout their career, Meritas has collaborated with numerous musicians, held solo concerts, participated in festivals, and conducted workshops for young people. Their music remains recognizable for its emotional atmosphere, sincerity, and strong authorial expression.
