Concert - Duo Montanaro
Since 2016, Baltazar Montanaro-Nagy and Miquèu Montanaro have been working together on writing and composing that focuses on the relationship between the individual and the world. Their first acoustic album, KI (Hungarian for "outside"), released in 2017, explored the place of the individual in the world. The second part of this reflection is BE (Hungarian for "inside", and also “to be”, “to become” in English), which delves into inner movement and the role each of us plays in social and cultural evolution.
For this new repertoire, their musical writing draws inspiration from the visual and unusual world of photographer Boris Trouplin. Starting from these images, they wrote short poetic texts in the form of haikus, which formed the creative foundation. From there, they developed their musical narrative—a kind of sonic correspondence. What they perform on stage is the result of this shared creation: an exploration of tones, rhythms, and textures of their instruments – the baritone violin and galoubet-tambourin. The music takes the shape of sound frescoes, blending composed sections with spontaneous, free-flowing improvisations.
The concert is co-financed by the Liszt Institute – Hungarian Cultural Center Zagreb and the City of Vodice.
